When is yard waste picked up?

Yard Waste services are provided through the Department of Public Works on Mondays & Fridays.

 


 

Open Burning

105.05 OPEN BURNING RESTRICTED. No person shall allow, cause or permit open burning of combustible materials where the products of combustion are emitted into the open air without passing through a chimney or stack, except that open burning is permitted in the following circumstances: – (IAC, 567-23.2[455B] and 567-100.2)

  • Leaves, Branches and Other Plant Materials. Between the hours of eight o’clock (8:00) a.m. and eight o’clock (8:00) p.m. from October 1 to November 30 of each year, except for the day in October designated by the Council as Beggar’s Night, persons may burn leaves, branches or other plant material grown or deposited upon their property.
  • At all other times of the year, the open burning such material is strictly prohibted, and such materical must be gathered and disposed of at sites approved by the City, composted or placed at points specified for the picking up and disposal of such material by authorized persons acting for the City. – IAC, 567-23.2[3f] and 567-20.2[455B])  (Ord 302 Dec. 2012 Supp)
