Granger Parks

Community Center Recreational Area (CCRA)

Located northeast side of Granger, across from the Granger Community Center on Walnut Street. The Community Center Recreational Area currently has a youth ball diamond, a large green space used for soccer and flag football fields, a large walking/bike trail, and a bridge that connects the CCRA to the Windcrest trail and pond.  This project has been funded through grants, borrowed funds, and numerous donations from local organizations.

Centennial Park

Located on the southwest side of Granger, between Rose Street and Highway 141. Centennial Park offers a children's playground, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a lighted ball diamond, concession stand, picnic shelter, walking paths, and a variety of beautiful trees and plenty of green space.

Windcrest Park

Located on the northeast side of Granger in the Windcrest Development and is accessible by going north from State Street.

Windcrest Park includes a stocked pond for fishing and a walking path with native prairie areas.

The City of Granger was awarded a $2000 grant from the Iowa Grocery Industry Association and Build With Bags that was used to purchase benches, planters, trash receptacles, and a picnic table to help finish construction at Windcrest Park.

The Build With Bags program is aimed at the following goals:

  • Doubling the amount of plastic bags recycled over the next 24 months
  • Reducing consumption of plastic bags
  • Increasing use of reusable bags
  • Encouraging purchases of furniture and equipment made from recycled plastic through a grant program for parks and schools.

Many thanks are extended to the staff at Grimes Fareway for their endorsement of this grant.
