Granger Parks and Rec Board Meeting, Wednesday, July 1st, 2020


General Agenda Items:


Call to Order: Jeri Wendzel called to order at 7:34 pm 

Roll Call: Present – Jeri Wendzel, Jennifer Kopp, Ryan Castro, Angela Parks, Erik Smith 

Members of Public – Jennifer Harned (Parks and Rec Director), Brad Feick 

Approval of the Agenda  Ryan motions, Erik 2nds. All ayes. 

Approval of MarchMinutes: Erickmotions, Angela seconds. All ayes

Board Discussion Items:


  Director Report:

  • Playground Planning for Centennial 
  • Middle of august is when it should arise
  • Review the Shelter House Agreement 
      1. Alcohol Form for Shelter House 
        1. We could have them sign the general Alcohol Form for any Granger Facility. This gives them the responsibility for not giving alcohol to minors. 
        2. Jen will bring the form to City Council for approval. 
      2. Jen did not contain anything about a damage deposit. 
  • Community Center Opening July 1st 
      1. Review cleaning lists checklists 
      2. City Council did not want to implement the phase-in plan or the 50% capacity. 
        1. They did agree to bring down the capacity by 50 people to allow everyone to have six feet difference by each other. 
        2. There is no requirement for masks or taking temperature. 
      3. We need to put a plan in place for if someone in the building is tested positive with COVID-19. 
  • Programming Discussion 
      1. Soccer 
        1. Jen thinks because of timing it would be better to not do soccer this Summer/Fall
      2. Flag Football 
        1. With football being later in the year it may be safer to do football. 
          1. We could have people register without paying to check numbers and then collect later if the numbers are good. 
          2. Registration would be due August 1st. 
          3. Once we receive payment, they would be placed on a team. 
      3. Yoga in the Park 
        1. Next Saturday 
      4. Movie in the Park 
  • Scratch Cupcakes on Wednesday, June 8th  
      1. People can pre-order if they would like to. 
  • Movie in the Park will be on Saturday, July 25th

CCRA/Parks: Currently, out of our 2019/2020 fiscal budget, Parks is 79% spent, and the Community Center is 93% spent.


Grants Update

  1. We did not get the Build with Bags grant as there were more applicants and less selected. 


City Council 

  1. Alcohol Form for Shelter House Rental.
